The amazing story of how a Scottish business park was saved

By - Richard - 18th February 2026

We were asked by NatureScot to produce a short film to tell the story of how a Scottish business park was saved through the implementation of natural flood management techniques.

Dingwall Business Park in the Scottish Highlands lies next to the River Peffery. However, the business park has been under the threat of flooding from the river for many years, to the extent that new businesses have not been able to build on the land.

Instead of building a big expensive flood bund which would have cost many millions of pounds, Lockett Agri Environmental came up with the idea of using natural flood management techniques to ease the threat of flooding and improve wildlife in the area.

The Peffery Catchment Restoration Project has re-meandered large sections of the River Peffery, while increasing biodiversity in and around the river. Combined with peatland restoration works in the upper catchment on Ben Wyvis NNR, this natural flood management project has helped to reduce flood risk to Dingwall Business Park, bringing multiple benefits for people and nature. This project was supported by the Scottish Government’s Nature Restoration Fund, managed by NatureScot.

The short film above tells the amazing story.
