Short documentaries – patient case studies

By - Richard - 4th October 2018

We have recently finished making a series of short documentaries that will be screened in cinemas in around Bristol.

The films tell the stories of patients whose lives have been dramatically affected by the intervention of Bristol Community Health.

The brief from the client was to produce a series of short films which would really connect emotionally with the audience.

Meeting these patients and telling their inspiring stories has been a real privilege.

Film 1 – Mustafa’s Story

Mustafa is a five year old boy who has recently diagnosed with hemiplegia, a paralysis of one side of his body.

Film 2 – Tony’s Story

In 2018 Tony thought he was drawing his last breath. A serious flare up of his Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) culminated in a hospital admission from which Tony thought he may never recover.

Film 3 – Josie’s story

Josie is an autistic, non-verbal child with hyper mobility. In this short documentary, her Mum Rebecca talks about the challenges of discovering Josie’s conditions.

Film 4 – Akhtar’s story

In 2018 Akhtar was diagnosed with a serious heart condition. He credits his interpreter with helping him understand how serious his condition was and saving his life.
