Aerial Photography – Edinburgh sunset

By - Richard - 10th January 2018

Earlier this week we managed to capture a rather beautiful and winery orange sunset over Edinburgh with a handful of aerial photographs.

We headed down to Carlton Cricket Club in Blackford, Edinburgh who had kindly given us permission to fly our drone from their premises. We were able to capture three images of the city looking in different directions about 10 minutes before sunset.

1) Pointing towards the Firth of Forth.

2) Arthur’s Seat bathed in golden sun. Arthur’s Seat is such an iconic sight on the Edinburgh skyline and one which we never tire of seeing. Where else in the world do you have such a unique, distinctive and beautiful green space in the heart of a city? When we see the outline of this extinct volcano (which resembles a sleeping lion) it just reminds us that we are home. The summit of Arthur’s Seat is just 251 metres high but provides unparalleled panoramic views across the city. There are so many amazing things about Edinburgh but this incredible landmark is our favourite – either to look at, or to look from.

3) The sun disappearing behind the Pentland Hills over a frosty city.
