Race Across the Atlantic
Swift Films is set to make an exclusive documentary about 4 individuals with no prior rowing experience as they compete in the Woodvale Atlantic Rowing Race. Setting off at the start of December and arriving up to two months later, this unique film will offer a personal insight into the pain, loneliness and emotional extremes of a 2800-mile ocean challenge.
Brought together by a mutual interest in punishing endurance sports, the four guys (one of whom has a fear of water) will compete with 25 other vessels departing from La Gomera in the Canary Islands and arriving on the other side of the Atlantic at English Harbour in Antigua. Rowing in pairs for consecutive shifts of two hours round the clock, they face conditions ranging from relentless sun to raging storms. A 29-foot long boat, just big enough to sleep 2 people, will be home for their journey. Packed with provisions leaving very little space, the squalid, claustrophobic conditions and punishing physical schedule are certain to test every ounce of their strength and resolve.
